Didn t live up to its billing for me I like introvert heroines and heroes who actually like that quality in them This book does have that but it s just not long enough to allow any believable characterisation or my emotional engagement with the main characters I should have liked this p.s It s way too expensive for the length Self defenseI was disappointed that the romance seemed to happen so suddenly, but when I read that it had been brewing for four months I understood The part where Sara attached her ex boyfriend was hysterical I loved it. I really wanted to give this book 5 stars, but I felt like when I started the book that I was coming into the middle of the story instead of the beginningthere could have been a great lead in story and everything happened at such a fast pace.I do have to say though that it was a great short read and I will read the next one. 2.75 I really liked this one but the sexual action started way too fast The rest of the book was erotic romance but the start was erotica. Reread. This was a short 70 page story The story and characters were ok but I just didn t love this story The premise of the story was After moving to escape a controlling ex, shy Sara James takes a job with a personal security firm, intent on settling down But her sudden hot attraction to her dark and dangerous new boss is a complication she cannot afford or understand Former Army Ranger and Security Specialist Dash Williams takes one look at his new employee and falls hard But how can he approach a woman who outwardly ignores him while her soft, yearning eyes send another message entirely His dominant instincts fire to life, and when Sara is plagued by a depraved stalker, he steps in to protect the woman he wants to claim as his own As they work together to stay one step ahead of the stalker, Dash realizes that his need to take over and protect will not help Sara have confidence in her own abilities So he goes against his own primitive instincts and his training to teach her to protect herself and reclaim her freedom The only problem is, when the danger is over, how will Dash ever let Sara go I am a sucker for the shy, petite heroine who is running away from an abusive situation theme Especially when there is a strong, take charge ALPHA male who is totally attracted to her This story just pushed it a bit much for me I think because it was only 70 pages that their passion, and may I say was hot and sizzling, was rushed I mean, one minute she can t even look at the hero, in the blink of an eye she is spread out in his office having mad passionate sex The hero is understanding of Sara s problems with an over possessive ex and her fear of him but because of the hero s lust filled heart, steam rolls over her to make her his I don t know just seemed a bit to contrived not believable Maybe it was because being a short story the author could not develop the story and relationships at a believable pace As far as recommending this short story, well I would probably tell you to give it a pass There are better short stories out there.
