( READ BOOK ) ☩ Jacques Henri Lartigue: The Invention of an Artist ♪ MOBI eBook or Kindle ePUB free

This is a very useful introduction to the history of photography It is not about technical developments, but rather about the creation of art photography Lartigue was discovered by John Szarkowsky, curator of photography, and presented as a naive predecessor to the greats of the 60s like GaRry Winograd In the first half of this book Moore takes pains to show that Lartigue was not the naif he was presented as and in the second half of the book he shows how and speculates about why Lartigue was presented as he was I found Moore s arguments persuasive, but beyond that, for someone like myself, who knows little about the history of photography this book provided a very engaging introduction Now I will read Szarkowsky s The Photographer s Eye. Another hit job on Lartigue by the Art Mafia Well written but seems to start out with the conclusion decided and works towards that It seesm to me that Lartigue s main offenses in the eyes of the art mafia are that he became popular and worse still, he was popularised by Szarkowski at the MoMA.
